Translation Issues
A new season of Gundam, a new case of how nyoron/lolfang sucks. Spoilers if you're not up to date on season 2.
http://www.fansubbingis.srsfkn.biz/?p=7 7 <- Direct line translation comparison
http://www.fansubbingis.srsfkn.biz/ ?p=3 <- Some screenshot critiquing
http://www.ji-hi.net/gundam00s2/index.h tml <- Direct screenshot comparisons
What's disappointing is how lolfang reacts to the critique and how he (poorly) defends his errors. The guy refuses to admit his mistakes, the closest he comes is saying that a translation for something was either debatable or unimportant. Furthermore he makes a point of directly attacking those who critique him and then going on as if nothing happened maybe in an attempt to make a showing as the better man (attacking people for critiquing you and then welcoming more comments on your work? wtf?). What with how others come to his defence (again poorly, typing a bit liek dis is nt gnna pt any1 on ur sied) with some of the worst logic. Despite what people may think, "If you think it's bad, why don't you do it yourself" is not a reasonable argument. It's precisely because we're actually capable of recognising that we're unable to do the job to a reasonable level that we don't.
Long story short, if you're a fan of Gundam? Download from GG, Menclave or Shinsen. I personally prefer Menclave even if they do release later than the other groups but GG and Shinsen seem to be around the same level translation wise. The only other determinant really is personal preference for tone of translation and encoding quality, something else nyoron fails in. Looking at above the screenshots shows a noticeable difference and simply looking at the difference in file sizes (for what is the same resolution) should be a good indicator of this as well.
I could go on for much longer (especially for those kiddies that don't understand the concept of what it means to put out a product) but for the average, right minded person the end result should be clear. Support quality, don't support nyoron (at least until he stops being a jerk about all this).
