I just spent about an hour on a quest for the PERFECT TOP GEAR ICON and then remembered I have about twenty free icon slots so I could pick more than one.
So now I am going to ramble about RPF for a bit. Please note: I don't judge anyone. Whether you read every interview a TV star gives or check out every single video from a band's tour, or whether you do none of that and just read the silly AU fic, I don't think any less of you. This is purely about my boundaries and what I'm comfortable with.

The Dell outlet had a Mini 10v with the long-life battery for surprisingly cheap. It's the boring plain black color, but it's not like one sees that when using it to write odd places and uh. Uh. HELP, WHAT DO I NAME IT?
I kinda want something from the UK comic (not a Zoid, the humans, shut up, I like them), except I think Celeste is just asking for something horrid to happen to it, and if I name it Heller it'll have ten MANLY ANGST fits if I replace any of the hardware with more versatile better components.
Computers are the reverse of cats, or mine are. They actually live up to what I call them, so a name is important. ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) rustydragonfly named an Eee PC Jeremy (as in Clarkson), and it likes to a) be a dick and b) whine for more power.
rustydragonfly is also in my basement.
Guess what showed up right before I had to go to the airport? Yeah, I hate you too, body.

Hi guys!
I've had great times here on ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) gundam00 with y'all. However, since deciding to leave the fandom to focus on other things at the beginning of 2008 2009 (lol), I've been mostly inactive in this comm. Because of this, I've finally made the long-overdue move to step down as community moderator.
I'd like to thank cerulean88 for a) letting me mod the comm and providing moral support through it all; the new mods ginnyseta and shikumo for putting up with my lame absences; and of course, all the folks here for making this community what it is!
As a parting gift, perhaps, here's a mecha!girl New Year's greeting I painted for my friendslist. Rather sloppy I'm afraid, but I hope you'll like it, at least.

Happy new year to me: my virtual install of Windows is making PRETTY BLUE SCREENS. There's nothing horribly important on it—I'm pretty sure I have the Petz elsewhere. Still, argh, they're in several different places and I'll have to reinstall things if I cannot undead it.
I'll figure out what's up with Jack* (and Firefox's spellcheck, which seems to have fallen over) later. For now, I will deal with my annoyance by making Luke reencode bits of Core Box at different settings to see which make the most awesome :D. (Already, the newer H.264 = HUGE size difference. Woo.)
* Yes, my virtual box is named that entirely on purpose. It'll do anything, including use an oldarse CD of XP to get going. |

And while I'm at it, the first DVD set of S2 comes out March 2nd. Special edition has the first manga of S2. What confuses me is the set is only 7 episodes for 2 discs.... |

I'm going to leave paid account discussion to pikacheeka's post, but figured I'd make a separate post regarding this.
The other mods and myself have been planning to have a layout contest for the community profile for a month now, however due to the holidays and real life fun, we haven't had a chance to get it up and running. This was perhaps a good thing, as the main page layout image just expired, so perhaps we're due for another one of those well! I have some 00 Japanese manga volumes I would be willing to donate as a prize.
My question to you guys - Would you rather have the contests as two separate contests, or one big ol' contest? I am leaning towards one big one, for both layout and profile. It might be nice to have them match or go together in some way. It also would be easier prize wise. However, I'm not a layout maker myself, so I am not sure if the two things are so drastically different that a person who makes one might not necessarily make the other.
Also, would anyone be willing to donate another prize? This is particularly for if we are splitting them into two contests. But I don't think anyone would object to extra goodies, either way ;-)

1) It is hard to get back to writing something after letting it sit for ages. Dear self: do not leave a longer story alone this long ever again. Also, give it a name already, the tag "damnbunny" isn't very good.
2) Ahaha. (Everyone now going augh re: Red Horn, you're welcome.)
3) I really need to build my Gilvader. It is so lonely in its box. So very lonely.
4) I want to make a battle story wiki...or, more accurately, a ref site using wiki software, since I am so not leaving anything publically editable. Not a stats one, a story one, and at about the same level of seriousness as the profiles/summaries I have online for Fuzors. That is, not serious at all, but accurate facts-wise. HELP. |

Evidently there's a Gundam 00 event in Japan today (the 31st), so maybe we'll be getting some information about a release date, soon!
That's it for news.
However, I did want to ask if anyone interested in donating towards getting a paid account for this community (I'd be paying part obviously)? I'm sick of the ads. I know this place isn't anywhere near as active as it was while the series was ongoing, but I had a lot of fun here and I'd like to keep it looking nice.

I feel like making a post, dangit!
Christmas was nice. I got some unexpected money, which I'm going to put towards buying something useful, like a new pair of boots, because the ones I have are probably like 10 years old or more. Not good for my arthritis. (Also, cold does seem to affect my arthritis some, ffffff.)
My big gift from my parents... they're paying for me to take a Japanese class at the local college. Had mixed feelings on this since it's a lot of money and I owe them a lot more money, but they were really insistent. Since my mom is faculty, apparently she can get reimbursed on tuition if I do well in the class. I think I'll do okay, but I'm pretty nervous. =x=a My mom totally forgot to give me my Zoid though. Strikezilla~
Sammich sent me some really awesome gifts too, they really lifted my spirits~ Spain and Italy flags... so much love~~

deviantArt, why are you making Firefox use craptons of CPU—apparently at random? Ubuntu squishes Firefox into sharing as other programs ask for CPU so I don't get problems elsewhere, but damn, no wonder it was lagging earlier.
Anyone else get epic CPU usage with Firefox 3.5+ and dA? If so, what graphics card/OS/etc are you using? I've got shit integrated Intel graphics graphics that identify as "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)" / Ubuntu 9.10 / Firefox 3.6 beta 6. It did this with the most recent version of 3.5 too.
I'll probably try Firefox 3.0 and 3.7 later along with some of the other fixes I hadn't tested yet, just out of curiosity. Firefox 3.6 is also nicer than 3.5, so it wasn't entirely wasted effort.
(edit) Hrm, Flickr seems to set it off too. Javascript? Flash, despite Youtube working?
More important than my gibbering: if you use Acrobat (ie, open PDFs with the reader), TURN OFF JAVASCRIPT. There's a potentially nasty exploit out there. (Instructions are in the article, though it's rather easily found in the preferences.) |
